"What is "vialidad"?"

Blog

First of all, let's start with the basic definition of "vialidad," and we'll go back to its origins for a better understanding of the topic. The meaning of the term "vialidad," through its etymological origin, derives from Latin, specifically from the combination of two components... the term "VIALIS" can be translated as "related to the road" and the suffix "DAD" is used to indicate "city."

Now, for more basic and comprehensible concepts, the notion of "vialidad" is usually used to refer to the group of services that can be linked to the development, maintenance, construction, and organization of public roads. The term is also used in reference to road property or to what is linked to a road. "Vialidad" refers to the services of construction and maintenance of public roads.

To better understand this term, we can exemplify it with the following: an authority from the road department of a city announces that such road will remain closed due to public works to improve the conditions of the road due to weather circumstances, or heavy machinery transiting or working on such avenue to improve the road. You might also come across messages such as "work in progress," "people working," "the neighbors closed the road for protest reasons," etc.

A road must be in good condition as it must ensure that the paths are suitable for all citizens to travel on.

In Mexico, we also know "vialidad" as streets. At the end of the day, both are synonyms and allow the movement of vehicles.

So, when hearing about the road network or road system, it is understood as streets, avenues, boulevards, together for the circulatory use of vehicles, bicycles, motorcycles, pedestrians, among others. Unfortunately, in many cities of the republic, some of the most important roads of a city are in poor condition, or sometimes, due to weather circumstances, it is not possible to travel safely on the road.

That said, it is important to mention that our taxes should be reflected in our city, supported by high-quality materials in the construction of roads, and in conjunction with reliable suppliers like HERSAN, who offer excellent support products for building better roads not only in Mexico but throughout the Americas.
